Fruitful visit to the Kuching Courts Complex

I was in Kuching, Sarawak from the 4th until the 8th of October 2010, visiting the Kuching Courts Complex. My aim for the visit was to witness the technologies being used at the courts, and talk to some people who are familiar with the integrated courts system adopted there.

Prior to the visit, I browsed through the Court’s official website to look for information related to my visit. Then I contacted the Court’s officer for arrangements about my visit there.

I was very lucky to be able to sit together with the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak as His Lordship explained to me the brief introduction about the whole technology system available at the court. I also met a number of judicial officers, court’s staff, advocates and system developers who willingly provided me with valuable information about my research. I was brought around the court complex, and was able to witness the case management system in action, the court recording and transcription process, as well as the video conferencing session – LIVE!

Today I am back to the office, more enthusiastic and excited than before, thanks to the fruitful and inspiring visit to the Kuching Courts last week…
